One man’s private home just might be the best haunted house 这个 Halloween season. Chris Sardinas of Orlando, Florida, slowly transformed his house over the course of six months into a recreation of Disney World‘s Haunted Mansion.
“In August I bid my house farewell as I started blocking off rooms to start construction on the props and scenery, much like prop-building for a play,” Sardinas told INSIDER. “During this time, I would research how the original Imagineers built their illusions and would immerse myself in their world and put myself in their shoes.”
Whether you’re a fan of Disney or not, it’s hard not to appreciate the jaw-dropping detail that went into this small-scale duplicate of the beloved Magic Kingdom attraction.
For the iconic seance room, Sardinas actually made the gypsy woman Madame Leota’s magically floating head out of a mannequin head he found at a local salon. He placed the head inside of an acrylic globe and touched up Leota’s face to make her look a little more haunting. The results? A macabre effect that Walt Disney’s Imagineers would be proud of.
In Sardinas’ version of the attic room, we can see the portraits of the “Black Widow” bride whose ex-husbands mysteriously died shortly after they were married. In the Disney World version, an animatronic ghost bride greets Haunted Mansion visitors.
And just in case you didn’t feel jealous enough, Sardinas said that his Haunted Mansion was the location and star of his annual blow-out Halloween party.
