The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has decided to withdraw a forthcoming accolade destined for Kevin Spacey.

The organization, which awards Emmys to television programs outside the U.S., said in a statement Tuesday it would no longer honor Spacey at its 2017 event, following accusations of sexual misconduct against him.

Spacey was due to receive the Emmy International Founders Award at a ceremony in New York on Nov. 20 alongside the recipients of 11 Emmy statues for programming and performances.

He and Emilio Azcárraga Jean, president and CEO of Spanish-language broadcaster Grupo Televisa, were set for special awards.

However, following allegations from actor Anthony Rapp that Spacey made a “sexual advance” when Rapp was 14 years old, the organization has withdrawn the invitation.

Spacey responded to the allegations in a statement Sunday, saying he “did not remember” the encounter and apologized for the feelings Rapp described “having carried with him all these years.” The actor was widely criticized for also using his statement to come out publicly.

Actor Zachary Quinto was among those who responded, referring to Spacey’s response as “a calculated manipulation.”
